Members of the City Council examined disparities in prices among city hospitals on Monday, focusing on New York-Presbyterian as the poster child for overly expensive care.
“Because of its size, New York-Presbyterian Hospital and its vast network have significant market leverage and, in the past, has been able to dictate its reimbursement. These outlier rates reflect this practice,” a spokesman for the state Conference of Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans said in a statement.
