A new billboard is highlighting the need to include undocumented New Yorkers in health coverage options. The majority of the uninsured population are individuals who are barred from health insurance based on their immigration status.
The Coverage for All legislation (A.880A/S.1572A) would make undocumented immigrants earning below 200% of the federal poverty line eligible to enroll in the state-funded Essential Plan – an estimated 154,000 people would be eligible for this coverage.
NYSCOP supports inclusion of this legislation in the State Budget. It will help close the coverage gap and ensure access to affordable health insurance for all.
